Şerife İnci Eren

Born in Nazilli, Şerife İnci Eren completed her elementary and high school education in Izmir Çamlaraltı Lycee. Eren who started her university life in USA Rider University, graduated from Bosphorus University’s Business Administration of Administrative Sciences Faculty, and Education Division of Liberal Arts Faculty.

Eren who started her business life in Jantaş A.Ş., served as Assistant Manager of General Manager for Human Resources and Public Relations. Thereafter, she claimed the duty of General Management for Cidaş A.Ş. of Inci Holding and Inci Sigorta Ltd. Company. Eren who also served as Chairperson of Inci Holding and Inci Akü, and Chairperson of Inci Holding Family Council and Family Assembly, still serves as a board member of Inci Holding and Hayes Lemmers Inci Jant Sanayi A.Ş., and Chairperson of Educational Foundation of Cevdet Inci.
She’s the moderator of Izmir Economic Development and Coordination Committee (İEKKK) / 2012 and also the chairperson of Turkey’s Family Business Association (TAIDER) of which she is the founder.

She is the founding member of Aegean Free Zone Users Association, and also members of the Graduates of Bosphorus University (BÜMED), Atatürkist Thought Association/ Konak, Culture Park Tennis Club, Gözpete Soroptomist Club and Turkish Amerikan Association (TAD). She is the founder and moderator of Booklovers Yahoogroups. She received Dünya Newspaper’s award for Successful Women of the Year in 2000, the grand award of Friend of Melvin Jones from Lions Clubs in 2008, and “VIII. Ones who claim the Republic in our City” award from Private Lycee of Çamlaraltı.

Dr.Mehmet Dudaroğlu

Born in Artvin in 1956, Dudaroğlu graduated from the Department of Chemistry in Technical University of the Black Sea in 1976. He studied for master degree in Business Administration Foreign Trade in 1985 – 1986, and in Finance in 1999-2001. He studied for doctorate in Management Sciences in 2002-2008. He served in various levels of investment planning and production engineering in Karabük Iron and Steel Plant, Bilecik Feed Industry and Eczacıbaşı Pharmaceutical Industry. He resumes his business life as Vice President of the Executive Board and General Manager in family companies EKU Brake Drum and Casting Industry A.Ş. since 1986. Dudaroğlu speaks English, is married and a father to two children

Mehmet Semih Söylemez

He is the Board Member and CEO of AGT A.Ş. which is one of Turkey’s top 500 greatest industrial enterprises.
Life, for his part, is to be able to live in a “balanced fashion” in between the values created by mankind and the nature.
Life, for him, is to be aware that imagining is also a “business”.

Stepping beyond standard views for the sake of being able to perceive life, he acknowledges an opposing view such as “reverse perspective”.
He is interested in “photograph” to capture the awareness of “the moment”.
He acknowledges his co-workers as the most important factors of life, and turns psychology science into one of his basic hobbies to better understand them.

And industry…
He is excited to the point where he can say “If the future will be good, industry and industrialization must be both our business and hobby.” He published his book titled “Emotional Capital” in 2012 where he collated his experiences of business and life. And finally, he advocates that, when it comes to “success in life”, the main determinant is his relationship with his family and friends.

Doğan Cüceloğlu

After he graduated from Psychology Department of Istanbul University, he studied for doctorate in field of Cognitive Psychology (perceiving, thinking, communication) in Illinois University in USA.
Thereafter, Cüceloğlu who served in Istanbul University, Hacettepe University and Bosphorus University respectively, performed studies for a year as a visiting lecturer in California University in Berkeley via Fulbright scholarship.

Cüceloğlu who served in Fullerton, in U.S.A. California State University in 1980 – 1996, published more than 40 scientific articles in Turkish and English. He concentrated on giving seminars and conferences, and making TV programs intended for university students, teachers, parents and businesspersons in Turkey since 1996.

Agah Uğur

He graduated from English Boys High school and Industrial Department in Birmingham University, England.

After working in domestic and overseas companies, started duty in Borusan Holding in 1989. Following duties of Assistant General Management and General Management, he serves as the CEO of Borusan Group since 2001.

He took part in boards of many nongovernmental organizations from past to present. He is married and has two daughters.

Dr. Haluk Alacaklıoğlu

Alacaklıoğlu who has been supporting family companies over two hundred with good applications in many countries since 2000, is the founder of Family Business Governance, LLP (Family Business Advisory). He completed his undergraduate education in Bosphorus University, and did his master’s degree magna cum laude in (MBA) Harvard Business School. He did his doctorate and received title of Ph.D. in American University in London.

Starting his career in his multinational companies, Haluk Alacaklıoğlu, worked as an executive in USA, Europe and Middle East. He started Turkey and Middle East branches as the managing partner of an internationally leading company in Sources of Tepe management, and supported hundreds of companies by finding of executives, evaluation and management.
Alacaklıoğlu had the chance to know better public stock companies and family companies as a result of these experiences. Making use of these experiences, he specialized in institutionalization in family companies (by being in the driver’s seat), passing from generation to generation with success, institutional management and effective structuring of executive boards and thus enabling productive endeavors by using these experiences.

He led the designing of Turkey’s best applications code as chairperson of Institutional Management Committee in TUSIAD. The code was published in December 2012 by TUSIAD. In the same year, he led the drive for establishing Turkey’s first and only independent Institutional Management Association, and was elected chairperson.

Alacaklıoğlu’s many scientific articles related to institutionalization, family constitutions, takeover (succession) planning, intergeneration transition, activating executive boards and increasing performances, were published in local and foreign press. He gave seminars in USA (FFI-San Francisco and Miami), Canada, Switzerland, Spain, India, Syria, Jordan, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and South Africa.

Dr. Alacaklıoğlu still serves in institutionalization in family companies in western Europe and Middle East, the ones in Turkey in particular. He worked with family companies in many different countries as USA, Japan, Canada, Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and South Africa. His first book Institutional Family Companies and Institutional Management was published in 2009.

Firuzhan Kanatlı

He was born in Eskişehir in 1964.
He completed his primary education in Eskişehir and Istanbul. Following his high school education in Lycee of Galatasaray, he went to England for his university education and graduated from Faculty of Business Administration in AUL University.

He started in group center of his family company Eti Gıda in 1989. He became Vice President of the Corporate Group; and after military service, he was appointed as the Vice President responsible for Group Purchases. With the restructuring of the group in 1999, he performed the Chairmanship of the Group’s Tam Gıda A.Ş.’s executive board and Vice Presidency of the Management Council of Eti Corporate Group. He also claimed the responsibility of the new investments and investment purchases of the group. In 2004, he founded Sarp Aviation A.Ş. which is also a family company, and assumed the chairmanship of the executive board.

To be able to better focus in family’s works to enter new fields, he withdrew from operations along with other family members in 2006, and by the end of
2006, he was appointed as chairman of all companies of the group, except for Eti Makine A.Ş. He worked in person in the projects for restructuring of Eti Group.

Firuzan Kanatlı founded Eskişehir Riding Center in 1994, and was an active sportsman until 2002. Kanatlı, having been a former member of Eskişehir Chamber of Industry Council, conducts the substitute membership of Galatasaray Sports Club Congress, Galatasaray Fans of Eskişehir, TÜSİAD and TÜSİAD Executive Board.
Firuzan Kanatlı who is the father of Lal Kanatlı (1996) and Firuz Sarp (2002), has a good command of the English and French languages.

Oğuz Babüroğlu

Founding Executive of Arama Participatory Management Consultancy, Lecturer, Writer
Graduated from Sussex University in 1997, Babüroğlu did his master’s degree in Lancaster University in 1978. He commenced in Social System Sciences in The Wharton School in Pennsylvania University.

He served as a lecturer in West Chester University in USA, Clarkson University, INSEAD in France, Work Research Institute in Norway and Bilkent University
between years 1982 and 2003. Babüroğlu who worked as a lecturer in EDWOR program in Norwegian University of Science and Technology, resumes his service in Sabancı University since 1998.

Babüroğlu who founded Arama Participating Management Consultancy in 1995 for practicing Participatory methods in corporates, regions and country basis, performed more than 650 participatory management implementations.
Besides his book “Educational Futures” he published with Merelyn Emery, he has publications in international scientific journals and books.

Murat KOLBAŞI

Murat Kolbaşı was born in Istanbul in 1966.

After he graduated from the Department of Business Administration in Administrative Sciences Faculty of Marmara University in 1987, he started his business life in Arzum Electrical House Appliances A.Ş. in 1988 as the Sales and Business Development Manager. He had professional contributions for the countrywide growth and expanding of Arzum when he was appointed as Vice President of the Executive Board In 1996.
He was appointed as the Chairman of the Board in Arzum Electrical Appliances in 2008. Later that year, he lead the process of partnering with Ashmore Portfolio Management A.Ş. as one of world’s leading English investor companies England, by 49 % share transfer. Thus he professionally contributed to the headwaying of Arzum for becoming a leading world-known company in the industry.
Murat Kolbaşı serves as the General Manager and Chairman of Arzum since 2008.
He is a member of Turkish-Chinese, Turkish Hong-Kong and Turkish-Vietnam) Businessmen Council, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Assembly, TUSIAD Executive Board, TOBB Young Entrepreneurs Senior Committee, Endeavor Effective Entrepreneur Supporting Association Consultancy Committee, Zücder (Glassman Association Executive Board, FODER (Financial literacy Association) Executive Board, and the founding member of TAIDER (Turkish Family Business Association). He is also a member of Young Entrepreneurs Club, Endeavor Turkey Consultancy Committee, Futurists Association and IMMIB.

Kolbaşı, who speaks English, is married and has 2 sons.

Ahmet Bayraktar

Dr.Artunç Kocabalkan

Kocabalkan who graduated from department of mechanical engineering in Yıldız University, entered banking life with Ziraat Bank Banking School. He worked in treasury divisions of various banks and intermediaries. Kocabalkan who stepped into media industry with the establishment of CNBCE-e in 2000, he worked as the assistant chief editor and anchorman in CNBC-e for 12 years. Kocabalkan did his master’s degree in Department of Economy and Finance in Bosphorus University, and his doctorate in Institute of Banking and Insurance in Marmara University.

Meltem KURTSAN

Meltem Kurtsan completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and Master’s Degree in Phytotherapy at the Pharmacy Faculty of Istanbul University. She has worked in different management levels of Kurtsan Holding since 1982. She held the position of President of Board at Kurtsan Group (www.kurtsan.com) between 2004 – 2013.

During her career she has attended several business development trainings. She completed the Harvard Business School OPM (Owner President Management) Program at 1999. She was nominated as Global Leader for Tomorrow by World Economic Forum in 1999 in Davos. She became Trademark and Patent Attorney at Turkish Patent Institute in 2001.

She became a member of TUSIAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association) in 2000 and was in charge of the Working Groups on Gender Equality and Intellectual Property Rights. She was the Founding President of KAGIDER (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey) (www.kagider.org) in 2002 and was subsequently elected President for 4 years running. She was the Board Member of the Turkish Association of Corporate Governance (TKYD) which was founded in 2003. She also held the Presidency of Women Entrepreneurs Committee at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and was a member of the Supreme Board of Women Entrepreneurs Committee at the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).

In 2013, She and other Family Members assigned Professional Board at Kurtsan Group of Companies who has a proven track record of success, in order to guarantee and maintain the continuous improvement in pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic fields of the Family Business. Ms. Kurtsan now works as an Effective Shareholder as she believes the importance and necessity of the institutionalization in Family Businesses; looking at the macro level to the health sector in the world.

She continues her work as the General Manager at MK Consulting, which was founded by her in 2002 and organises seminars and workshops about Intellectual Property Rights, EU funding and specialises in more technical seminars especially on Regulatory Affairs and other pharmaceutical related topics which made the Company a well-known and well-respected with a strong reputation in pharmaceutical sector in Turkey. Now, Meltem Kurtsan is working for developing training programmes at MK Consulting, sharing her experiences by speaking at various organizations about family businesses, entrepreneurship, women issues, organic farming.

Tarkan Kadooglu

Born in Cizre County in 1974, Tarkan KADOOĞLU accomplished his university education in field of Business Administration in Newport International University in line with his business life after he completed his elementary and high school education. He was 22 when he became the head of Kadooğlu Corporate Group in 1996.
Kadooğlu Corporate Group, of which the foundation was laid in Cizre with coal mining in 1972, stepped into fuel oil marketplace in 90s by fuel oil stations. It transformed its knowledge and savings into a national fuel oil distribution business of 350 dealers with Kadoil Trademark in Tarkan Kadooğlu’s lead. Hence it started to take part in international oil trade with its modern storage facilities in Mersin. Also, food trade started in 90s as well resulted with the birth of Bizce Oil which is Turkey’s greatest herbal oil producers and exporters. The group is currently active in fields of construction, development and management of commercial estate, production and trade of electricity as well. Tarkan Kadooğlu claims significant parts in nongovernmental organization with his knowledge and skills he acquired in management area. Within the frame of this vision, Tarkan Kadooğlu who joined TUSIAD in 2007, serves as an executive board member since 2010, and also performs vice presidency of TÜRKONFED. Kadooğlu who is married and has 4 children, fancies spending time with his family, reading books, communing with his friends, swimming and horse riding at his leisure.
